2013 Relay for Life Coin Drive

1. Relay for Life is scheduled for Friday May 24, 2013  and schools are asked to participate in the opening ceremony which begins at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 24, 2013  at George Washington High School Track. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend and participate wearing school colors. DOE is also scheduled to walk from 11:00 pm - 12:00 am Friday, May 24, 2013 and all everyone is encouraged to participate. (Ahem.. Service learning possibly).
 
2. Additionally, donations from the schools with a minimum  of $300.00 from each school  is the goal however additional donations will be greatly appreciated by the American Cancer Society.  JFKHS will be having a coin drive beginning tomorrow May 17 through Tuesday May 21, 2013 and all money collected will be presented on Wednesday 5/22/13.  NAF guidelines require that money collected be deposited on a daily basis, and submission forms will be in teacher boxes.  Please submit the form and money daily to Ms. Mina in the business office.  Last day to submit money will be after school Tuesday, 5/21/13. 
 
Please announce the coin drive to your students and challenge your colleagues to beat your class submissions to help JFKHS reach the goal. 
 
Additional donations from student organizations and the PTSA are also welcomed.

JFK COMMUNITY

 

·         Congratulations to our JFK Boys’ Volleyball team for taking 2nd place in the championship game last night against GWHS.  We are proud of your accomplishments individually and as a team on the court!  Way to shine Islanders!       

·         Congratulations to the John F. Kennedy Canoe Team and Coach Afshin Amoui for winning the Varsity Girls Championship and back to back Varsity boys Championship; The Paddling Islanders also placed 3rd place for Varsity Mix, 2nd place for JV Boys, and 3rd place for JV Mix.  Visit http://www.guamsportsnetwork.com/paddling-2/ for more details.     

·         Attention Parents, Teachers, Students, and Staff:  Please be reminded that any videos or photographs taken on the school campus or images captured of students while in the JFKHS uniform represents our school. Any inappropriate conduct and/or images will be handled administratively and can result in disciplinary action. Refer to the student handbook (technology violation and student conduct) and/or visit the SS Office for further info.

·         The Senior Class of 2013 would like to thank all the students, faculty, staff, and admin who helped in the preparation of the Senior Coronation. It was a huge success- truly a night to remember!  Kudos to the Senior Prom Committee, the Senior Class Advisors, and most especially to Mrs. Devi Barcinas, overseeing advisor for the event.  A special thanks to Mr. Ben Quinata for his artistic assistance.  Congratulations to the Aaron Orot Senior Prom King and Joshie Aquino Senior Prom Queen.

Greetings Islander Family!

 
The students in Vivace and Voce Nuevo (select beginning chorus) would like to invite you to their final concert of the school year. The shows are next weekend, Saturday May 18 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday May 19 at 3:00 p.m. It will take place at New Covenant Life Church in Tamuning. All are welcome! The concert will feature a variety of music, so there is sure to be something for everyone. Tickets are $7.00 ($10 at the door) and can be purchased from any Vivace member or from the choir room. The flyer has been attached for your reference. Thank you for all the support this year. They hope to see you there!!
