John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.

 

Our ESLRs:  John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.

 


 

ATTENTION JFK COMMUNITY

  • JFKHS Public Hearing for FY2014 Budget will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 6:00p.m. in the school cafeteria.  Please join us to share your input
  • Hafa Adai Islanders! St. Dominic’s needs your help.  According to Sister Matty, St. Dominic’s is in need of basic items such as shampoo, body wash, bed sheets (twin size), laundry detergent, Listerine, baby powder, and other toiletry items to properly care for our Island’s elderly. If you are interested in donating, please attach a Christmas greeting along with your name and drop off items in Room A207, Mrs. Lorie Montague.
  • Class of 2014 would like to thank all who attended and supported our “Harvest Moonlight Dance” last Wednesday.  Thank you, especially to our chaperones and the JFK staff and Admin. who attended.  We hope to see you all at our upcoming fundraisers!

 

CLUB NEWS

  • Hafa Adai Islanders! Would you like a say in this year’s yearbook? Bring your designs to life by joining the Yearbook Club. There will be a meeting this Friday, November 30 during lunch in D117. Club membership is greatly needed! Membership has great benefits. Hope to see you there!
  • Then Chamoru Club will be having a General meeting on Thursday, November 29 during lunch in E102. All are encourgaged to attend.  Please get a pass from your teacher.
  • WAVE Club: Come join WAVE!  Meetings are held every Wednesday during lunch in A207.
  • FEA:  Do you LOVE teaching?  Come join Future Educators Association.  Meetings are held every Thursday during lunch in A205.
  • INTERFAITH BIBLE CLUB: Students please join us on Mondays [Green/odd days only] during lunch in Room D111 to open the Bible and study it.  All questions and ideas are welcome.
  • Nursing Club: Meetings on Thursdays during the first half on lunch in D215.
  • CHAMORU CULTURAL DANCE practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 – 3:30. If you have questions, please see Sinot Terlaje in F101.
  • Tourism Hospitality Society (THS) meetings are held Fridays during Lunch @ G104 (ProStart) class.

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS

  • Looking for a way to hang out with your friends this Christmas Season??? Come buy a ticket for JFK Bowling Day sponsored by NHS on Dec. 15 from 10am-3pm.  Each ticket includes one game, a drink, and a hot dog. Tickets are $6 and can be bought from any NHS member.
  • There will be a meeting for those who are interested in being a part of the Graduation Committee TODAY, Thursday, 11/29/2012 in Mr. Calvo's room D118 (Band Room) during lunch. We are encouraging all of you to volunteer to help make to make our graduation the best one yet. 
  • Can’t think of a Christmas gift? NHS will be selling Christmas Grams for $3, which includes 2 Christmas-shaped Rice Krispies.  Get it while supplies last!!!
  • 3rdQuarter Sports:  Sign-up for Boys’/Girls’ Tennis, Boys’/Girls’ Rugby, Boys’ Basketball, and Girls’ Softball in the Gym during lunch from November 27 – December 6. First official practice begins December 10. Requirements: Parental consent and sports physical forms must be submitted.  Also no Fs or Us. See Mr. Jay Antonio, Athletic Director, if you have questions.
  • 2ndQuarter Progress Reports will be issued tomorrow, November 30!
  • Jostens will be here Nov 29/30 during lunch near the Main Office.  Don’t forget-bring your $50 deposit.
  • The GATE-VPA Theater Arts Program is holding auditions for Disney’s “High School Musical” at UMS (Tiyan) on Dec 17, 18 19 from 6-8p.m. They need singers, dancers, and actors. Techies also need to sign up at this time.  For more info, call Ray or Anne at 475-0598 or 789-2125.
  • If you are interested in running for Royal Court for the upcoming Winter Formal on Dec 15 at the Westin Resort, you may pick up a contract today at the W.A.Y. meeting during lunch in room D118. 
  • It's that time of the year again, where the bells jingle and the carols sing, but this year a mystical event is amidst. Come join W.A.Y. in this year's winter formal "Frost Façade:  A Winter Masquerade” on Sat., Dec. 15 at the Somnak Ballroom, Westin Resort from 6-11PM. Enjoy a mysterious night full of food, dance, games, and prizes! Tickets are $25. This is a semi-formal event. Hope to see you there in your best outfit with your most mystical mask! Please see any W.A.Y. Officer for tickets or inquires.
  • Pregnant students please report to the Nursing Office to register and update status.
  • Students taking prescribed medication or has a medical condition must report to the Nurse.
  • All issues pertaining to student portrait packets must call the vendor Mr. Mapote at 777-2443.
  • All issues pertaining to student IDs, please Mr. Labrador in D117.
  • SENIORS:  Portrait listings are located at the C Building and on the class website jfkhs2013.weebly.com.Directions to the studio are also on the website. Please remember your scheduled date to take your senior portraits. Skipping your scheduled date without contacting the photographer, Mr. Mapote, will result in a $20 fee. For those who plan on rescheduling their senior portraits, there is a possibility that your pictures will not be put into the yearbook. So please be ready for your scheduled date. Thank you! 
  • SENIORS: Cap and Gown purchases at Gino's are ongoing. Last days to purchase is in December. 
  • Vivace is selling spirit shirts displaying headphones and a heart with the Vivace logo.  T-shirts cost $12 for 1, but if you buy 2 or more…they’re $10 each!!! Shirts come in black, light gray, navy, or dark gray! To place your order…please see any Vivace Senior or visit the Choir Room (D101).
  • Class of 2K14:  You may start to pre-order your class shirts for $12; may be paid to any class officer or advisor.  The class of 2K14 is also selling school spirit shirts for $12.  Designs will be posted throughout the campus.  Order forms are available from any officer or in Room B107 or C201.
  • Are you hungry after school? Do you want food at reasonable prices? Then the C/O 2015 is here to satisfy your appetite! C/O 2015 is selling snacks and drinks after school near the front entrance daily!
  • NHS will be offering tutoring sessions from Monday to Friday, except Wednesdays, during lunch in B210. After school tutoring will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 230pm in B210.
  • College Access Challenge Grant Program: Tutors will be in the Library during lunch weekly on Tues, Wed, and Thurs.  This is for CACGP participants and students in need of tutoring services.

COUNSELING OFFICE

  • Lady islanders ages 14-17 years old, you are eligible for the Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award (VRA).  You must be currently an active volunteer in your community and school.  This award is for young ladies actively trying to make our world and community a better place.  See Mr. Ballares or your counselor for more info.  Deadline to apply is December 1, 2012.
  • The GCA has four scholarships for Seniors interestedattending the Guam Construction Trades Academy.  It is worth $2,500 to the recipients of this scholarship.  Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office. See Mr. Ballares or Mrs. Chargualaf.
  • The Marine Corps is offering an all expense ROTC Scholarship ($ for school, housing and food) for Seniors!  Please contact Staff Sgt Leon Guerrero at 472-1775 to set up an appointment for an interview.
