John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.

 

Our ESLRs: John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.

 

 

ATTENTION EVERYONE

  • CONGRATULATIONS to our Dance Club for winning Best Hip Hop routine and Crowd Favorite that was held at Micronesian Mall.
  • “THANK YOU” to every single one of you at JFK who were able to donate something for the Team Taga donation drive for their service learning project “Hope for the Homeless.”  Also thank you to the teachers who allowed us to place a box in your classroom to collect donations!  We are sure your items made a Homeless Person feel loved!!!
  • Congratulations Jennifer Abrincia and Krysha Cabuhat for acceptance into the UOG Math Summer Camp 2012!
  • Congratulations Tiara Torres for acceptance into the UOG Advance High School Program!
  • Thank you to those who came and supported Vivace and Voce Nuevo as they presented their Spring Concert Finale, 'Defying Gravity' this past weekend!
  • Congratulations Islanders for winning the IIAAG Boys Track & Field Championship and placing 3rd for the Girls Division.
  • Thank you to everyone who participated and donated money for the American Cancer Society Coin Drive. There is still money being submitted but as of Thursday, there was $767.80 submitted to ACS on behalf of JFK. Big thank you to Mrs. Orot and her American Government students for collecting over $600!!!!

  • INTERACT CLUB: Interested in giving back to your community? Meetings every Friday in A207 during lunch.
  • BIBLE CLUB: Do you feel Lonely? Depressed? 1Peter 5:7 says to “cast your cares upon him because he cares for you.” You’re invited to attend our meeting every Fri in D106 and listen to guest speakers whose lives have changed.
  • Creations Art Club: Meeting every Thurs in D103 or for more info please see Mr. Quinata.
  • JAPANESE CLUB: Meetings every Wed. in F202.
  • Chinese Cultural Club (CCC): Meeting every Friday at Lunch in A205.
  • BILLIARDS CLUB: Meetings every WEDNESDAYS in Rm B201.
  • FUTURE EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION: Meetings are every Thursday in A202 during lunch.
  • MARINE DEFENDERS: Meetings are Thursday at lunchtime.
  • I-Recycle Club: Meetings every Wednesday at Lunch in Room D223.
  • Filipino Club (UFSA): Meetings every Thursday at Lunch in Room D223.
  • Tourism Hospitality Society will be holding its regular meetings every Friday during lunch in Room G104.
  • Robotics Club will be holding its regular meetings every Thursday during lunch in Room D114.
  • WAVE CLUB: Welcome All Visitors Enthusiastically! Meetings held every Wednesday in room A207.
  • MICRONESIAN YOUTH CLUB meeting every Wednesday during lunch in room F104.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:

  • SENIORS: Don’t forget that your last day of school is Wednesday, June 6. You must follow all district/school rules and policies until that day. Do not make irresponsible decisions that may jeopardize your graduation!
  • ALL STUDENTS who participated at the Class Olympics held last Friday, May 25…shirts are ready to be picked up starting Thursday, May 31 in B102. Thank you!
  • JUNIORS: There will be a parent /student meeting on Thursday, May 31 at 6pm in the cafeteria. Important discussion on upcoming Senior year events and Senior contracts.
  • School-to-Work Students.  You must register for the WorkKeys Assessment and test on 1 of 3 dates : Fri 6/01, Tues 6/05 or Fri 06/08.  Pick up registration form from Ms. Caraig (A210).  Please submit registration and $25 cash/check to GCC Career Counselor Ms. Nanpei ASAP.  Write to This email address is being protected from spambots.   • SENIORS: Do you want to dive with the sharks at Underwater World for FREE??? Make a 60 second video telling why you should get to dive with the sharks, share it on the Underwater World Guam Facebook page, and like the page. You may be one of four Seniors to win! See Mrs. Tydingco for more information.
  • SENIOR CLEARANCE: Potential Graduates, please read the following regarding CLEARANCE.
  • Friday, May 18: begin pick up of clearance forms in the main office before school, break, lunch, and after school. 
    • SENIORS: If you ordered your cap and gown, your 5 graduation invitations are ready to be picked up in B213 during or after school. Additional invitations will be available at a later date!
    • SENIORS!!! The Class of 2012 presents “Senior Promenade: The Final Serenade” to be held on Friday, June 1 from 6 – 11pm at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort. Purchase your tickets in B213; $35 for singles and $60 for couples. Seating reservations are available upon request. Hope to see you there!
    • SENIORS: Haven’t ordered your cap and gown? They can be purchased in B213 during lunch and after school only. Cost is $65 and includes cap, gown, tassel, and stole. Sizes are limited!
    • SENIORS: Cap and gowns are ready to be picked up. Distribution will be done during lunch and after school only as follows: Last Names A – M in B213 (Ms. Estay) / Last Names N – Z in B201 (Mr. Junsay).
    • SUMMER SCHOOL: Mandatory Parent/Student Orientation on Thurs, June 14 at 6pm in the gym. Session A: June 18 - July 9/Session B: July 10-31; Mon - Fri from 7:30-11:30 AM. Students must provide their own transportation.
  •  Mon, May 21 - Tues., May 29 - Seniors begin clearance with all areas listed on your form such as your teachers and the library, AD, JROTC, nurse, counseling, and SSSO before school, during break, or lunch.
  • Wed., May 30 - Mon, June 4 - Final Clearance with Mina/FOAS office via the English 12 Teachers. You will be escorted to the FOAS Office at designated periods/times (schedule is with your English 12 teachers).  

 

FACULTY AND STAFF

  • Please be aware that the last day of school for students, including Seniors, is Wednesday, June 6. Remember that you are responsible for your students and enforcing all district and school policies. Thank you, Administration.
  • If you need boxes…please see Julian or Tessie.
  • BE AWARE: If you continue to attempt to access sites blocked by DOE’s FSAIS office, your computer IP access may be blocked. Please adhere to the SOP for internet and telecommunications. It has been emailed to you.
  • PARKING LOT (E-Building) CLOSED: Due to the work in the parking lot outside the cafeteria, the PE Department will be utilizing the parking lot near the E-Building as their court. Faculty and staff will not be able to park in these stalls. Thank you for your understanding and patience with the construction close-out of JFK.
  • TEACHER CLEARANCE: Forms should be in your box. Electronic copies were also sent. Please see Mrs. T. Cruz or Ms. Gutierrez if you have questions.
  • English 12 Teachers: With all the requirements for senior clearance/graduation, we have set up a Senior Clearance time during the day. We ask your assistance with escorting your Class down to the FOAS Office on Wed, May 30 – Mon, June 4 during your designated dates/times. The schedule is listed below.   • POWER TEACHER: training is scheduled for June 15 and June 22; training will be 8:30-11:30. If you would like to attend, please go to www.gdoe.net/powerschool to sign up! Space is limited!

 

FROM THE COUNSELORS

  • Summer Employment Opportunity Program (SEOP) and GCC.   Paid employment with extra training.  Opportunity for Honor Roll seniors and juniors.   See your counselor today!
  • PSAT is scheduled for 10/17/12. The PSAT measures your critical reading, math, and writing skills that you need to succeed in college and beyond. It helps you improve your skills, enter scholarship competitions, practice for the SAT, plan for college and career and receive information from colleges. In addition, this test qualifies you to enter National Merit Scholarship Cooperation competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded in 2014. If you are interested, see your counselor. The test cost $14 and there will be Fee-Waivers for eligible students.
