John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.

Our ESLRs: John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.

 

ATTENTION EVERYONE

  • Please come and support Vivace and Voce Nuevo as they present their Spring Concert Finale, 'Defying Gravity' on Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26 at 7 p.m. at New Covenant Life Church in Tamuning. Pre-sold tickets are $7, and $9 at the door. No charge for Children age 4 and below. See any Vivace member or visit room D101 for more info. Hope to see you there!

  • Congratulations to Stephanie Bergeron (silver level), Shadanice James (silver level), Urika Ann Simon (bronze level), and Ma. Veronica Suva (bronze level) who took and passed the WorkKeys Assessment this past Friday, May 11, 2012.  We're proud to see the success of our Seniors working with the KeyTrain program!

  • The JFKHS PTSA would like to thank all the departments, clubs, organizations, and sports teams for hosting and donating raffle prizes at the monthly PTSA meetings this school year. Thank you for allowing your students to showcase their work and for encouraging them to attend the monthly meetings. Because of your efforts, we had a successful year. We are truly grateful for your participation and support.

  • Thank you to everyone who came out to support /volunteer at the C/O 2012 Autofest Carshow. Special thanks to Mr. Poliquit and his awesome ProStart seniors who prepared the best food and great service/ professionalism.

  • GDOE Coins for Cancer Survivors: Help raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life.”  We are seeking the support of the school community to raise funds and also raise awareness on the causes and treatment of the disease. We challenge YOU to support the coin drive May 1 - May 17. Once you have counted the money raised and filled out the attached cash count sheet, submit your money to the Business Office either Thur, May 17 or Fri, May 18.

  • INTERACT CLUB: Interested in giving back to your community? Meetings every Friday in A207 during lunch.

  • BIBLE CLUB: Do you feel Lonely? Depressed? 1Peter 5:7 says to “cast your cares upon him because he cares for you.” You’re invited to attend our meeting every Fri in D106 and listen to guest speakers whose lives have changed.

  • Creations Art Club: Meeting every Thurs in D103 or for more info please see Mr. Quinata.

  • JAPANESE CLUB: Meetings every Wed. in F202.

  • Chinese Cultural Club (CCC): Meeting every Friday at Lunch in A205.

  • BILLIARDS CLUB: Meetings every WEDNESDAYS in Rm B201.

  • FUTURE EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION: Meetings are every Thursday in A202 during lunch.

  • MARINE DEFENDERS: Meetings are Thursday at lunchtime.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:

  • SENIOR CLEARANCE: Potential Graduates, please read the following regarding CLEARANCE.

  • Friday, May 18: pick up clearance forms in the main office before school, break, lunch, and after school. 

  •  Mon, May 21 - Tues., May 29 - Seniors begin clearance with all areas listed on your form such as your teachers and the library, AD, JROTC, nurse, counseling, and SSSO before school, during break, or lunch.

  • Wed., May 30 - Mon, June 4 - Final Clearance with Mina/FOAS office via the English 12 Teachers. You will be escorted to the FOAS Office at designated periods/times (schedule will be sent separately to the English 12 teachers).  

  • SENIORS: All those interested in attending the Baccalaureate Mass please be present for the meeting on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 during lunch in B201.

  • JFKHS presents our annual Class Olympics on May 25 from 2-4pm in the middle of the courtyard. Freshman wear yellow, Sophomores wear green, Juniors wear blue, and Seniors wear red. Please come out and represent your class with fun games. So, may the odds be ever in your favor!

  • SENIORS: If you ordered your cap and gown, your 5 graduation invitations are ready to be picked up in B213 during or after school. Additional invitations will be available at a later date!

  • SENIORS!!! The Class of 2012 presents “Senior Promenade: The Final Serenade” to be held on Friday, June 1 from 6 – 11pm at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort. Purchase your tickets in B213; $35 for singles and $60 for couples. Seating reservations are available upon request. Hope to see you there!

  • Calling all ARTISTS: The 1st Annual “On the Spot” Painting Contest for high school students will take place on June 2. Over $500 will be awarded to the Top 3. For an entry form or info., see Mr. Quinata in D103.

  • SENIORS: Haven’t ordered your cap and gown? They can be purchased in B213 during lunch and after school only. Cost is $65 and includes cap, gown, tassel, and stole. Sizes are limited!

  • SENIORS: Cap and gowns are ready to be picked up. Distribution will be done during lunch and after school only as follows: Last Names A – M in B213 (Ms. Estay) / Last Names N – Z in B201 (Mr. Junsay).

  • SUMMER SCHOOL: Mandatory Parent/Student Orientation on Thurs, June 14 at 6pm in the gym. Session A: June 18 - July 9/Session B: July 10-31; Mon - Fri from 7:30-11:30 AM. Students must provide their own transportation.

  • TEACHER CLEARANCE: Forms should be placed in your box by Monday, May 21. Electronic copies will be forthcoming.

  • English 12 Teachers: With all the requirements for senior clearance/graduation, we have set up a Senior Clearance time during the day. We ask your assistance with escorting your Senior Class down to the FOAS Office on Wed, May 30 – Mon, June 4 during your designated dates/times. The schedule is listed below.   • A special Faculty Meeting will be held on Wed, May 23rd in the Media Center starting at 1:35PM.  The single topic agenda item:  presentation by Dr. Robert Underwood, UOG President.  Refreshments will be provided afterwards in the lounge. Please mark your calendar.  Your presence is expected.

  • Please turn in your current PPD form to the Nurse’s Office; if not, you will be sent home (leave w/o pay).

  • POWER TEACHER: training is scheduled for June 15 and June 22; training will be 8:30-11:30. If you would like to attend, please go to www.gdoe.net/powerschool to sign up! Space is limited!

  • TEACHER TRANSFER DEADLINE: Those interested must complete and submit a request to Personnel Services Division no later than COB on Friday, 5/25/12. FROM THE COUNSELORS

  •  PSAT is scheduled for 10/17/12. The PSAT measures your critical reading, math, and writing skills that you need to succeed in college and beyond. It helps you improve your skills, enter scholarship competitions, practice for the SAT, plan for college and career and receive information from colleges. In addition, this test qualifies you to enter National Merit Scholarship Cooperation competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded in 2014. If you are interested, see your counselor. The test cost $14 and there will be Fee-Waivers for eligible students.
