John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.
Our ESLRs: John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.
ATTENTION EVERYONE
- Japanese Club will be hosting a carwash on February 12 at the Tamuning McDonalds. Tickets are being pre-sold by any club officer or member for $5.00.
- The Xterra Guam Off-Road Triathlon will take place on Saturday, March 10th. If you are interested in volunteering, please see Mrs. Tydingco in F105. Thank you!
- Effective immediately, if you are absent, you are to submit your excuse notes to the Student Support Services Office (SSSO) between 6:00-6:55 A.M., break, or lunch. Students have a three-day grace period to provide excuse notes. No admit slips issued with the revised homeroom procedures this semester.

- JAPANESE CLUB: Meetings every Wed. in F202. Club members who did not earn enough points to go to Japan will have their points counted for next school year.
- Chinese Cultural Club (CCC): Meeting every Friday at Lunch in A205.
- BILLIARDS CLUB: Meetings every WEDNESDAYS in Rm B201.
- FUTURE EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION: Meetings are every Thursday in A202 during lunch.
- MARINE DEFENDERS: Meetings are Thursday at lunchtime.
- I-Recycle Club: Meetings every Wednesday at Lunch in Room D223.
- Filipino Club (UFSA): Meetings every Thursday at Lunch in Room D223.
- Tourism Hospitality Society will be holding its regular meetings every Friday during lunch in Room G104.
- Robotics Club will be holding its regular meetings every Thursday during lunch in Room D114.
- WAVE CLUB: Welcome All Visitors Enthusiastically! Meetings will be held every Wednesday in room A207.
- MICRONESIAN YOUTH CLUB meeting every Wednesday during lunch in room F104.

- INTERFAITH BIBLE CLUB: meetings held every Monday during lunch in D218. Come read and discuss the Bible!
- AUTOMOTIVE CLUB: meetings will be held every Wednesday during lunch in G103.
ATTENTION STUDENTS:
- Electives Fair is this Wednesday and Thursday Feb 8-9 during your English, Math, and Social Studies classes. This is the time to gain interest in electives that JFK has to offer before early registration for next school year.
- Attention School-to-Work: Work Experience Students! There is an STW-B meeting this Thursday 02/09 in room A211 during lunch. Please be there by 11:05 a.m.
- Are you having trouble with your class assignments or lessons? The NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY members are willing to assist you! We will be tutoring every Monday and Thursday during lunch in B210. After school tutoring will be as followed: Every Monday/Wednesday in the Library and Tuesday/Thursday in B210. See your Homeroom teacher for a lunchtime tutoring pass.
- The Guam International Reading Association's 2012 Read-A-Thon "I Love Reading: Read One - Love One" has begun! More than 500 of our students will be seeking your donations and support as they pledge to read at least 6 hours during the week of February 11-18. Please give generously and encourage others to do the same as at least 20% of the money that is brought in goes right back to our school for books and supplies. Contests will be held during Read-A-Thon Week; please ask your teacher for the day's trivia question or project. Thanks, Mrs. Mallari (D219) and Mr. Pilarca.
- To help advertise and support the Guam IRA's 2012 Read-A-Thon "I Love Reading: Read One - Love One," our school is sponsoring a wave at the Kmart Intersection on Friday, February 10 at 2:30-3:30pm. Please bring banners in support of literacy and matching this year's theme. The first 100 participants will receive a free "I Love Reading" lanyard!
- Hafa Adai Freshmen! The GCC/JFK Tourism Academy is offering two, 3-year programs next school year called the Lodging Management Program and ProStart. - LOCK OUT will commence this month. Students must be prompt to class.
- RANDOM SEARCH will begin ASAP. Students do not bring illegal/prohibited items to JFK; you will be disciplined.
- SPIRIT DAYS on Friday: Students who are members of Clubs/Organizations, JROTC or student athletes for the Quarter may wear their sponsored organization shirt on Fridays. Students are NOT allowed to wear just any JFK t-shirt. If so, you are violating the criteria for Spirit Day and will be disciplined accordingly.
- ALL STUDENTS must exit the JFK campus no later than 2:00 p.m. unless you have prior authorization. Students will be disciplined accordingly if they continue to violate this rule.
FACULTY AND STAFF:
- Electives Fair is on Feb. 8-9. Please see your Department Chairperson for schedule on tours.
- 2012 Silebrason Gupot Chamoru: $3.00 donation to cover the cost for 6 pans of spareribs for the SANTO MISA (Chamoru Mass). Please see Sinora Aguon or Sinora Rodriguez to submit your donation. Si Yu’os Ma’ase.
- JFK is a secured and closed campus; if you wish to enter the campus on the weekends, you MUST obtain prior permission from the administration at least 2 days in advance. Please see Ms. Gutierrez or Mrs. T. Cruz.
- Science Teachers, if you have students interested in research and getting exposure to working in a scientific setting, please refer them to the NIDDK program. The last day to register for this program is February 15.
FROM THE COUNSELORS:
- Attention Seniors! If you are planning to attend college and you would like to serve in the military, then you can do both at UOG. You can get a degree and become a U.S. Army officer after you graduate from college. Captain Diaz from the UOG ROTC program would like to talk to you about the UOG ROTC scholarship opportunities during lunch on Tuesday February 28th in the Media Center. See Mr. Ballares for details and to sign up today.
- Association of Government Accountants: Academic Scholarships for future Business Majors, and Community Service Scholarships for community service and accomplishments. Must be AGA family member to apply. Deadline March 30.
- Bank of Guam Scholarship. Five $2,000 awards. Based on academic achievement, citizenship, and financial need. Deadline March 15.
- Seniors, Electronics & Automotive career path students! UTI-theUniversalTechnical Institute will be holding a seminar at the Media Center on Thursday March 15 for seniors and technical career path students wanting to attend their prestigious school. Sign up with Mr. Ballares in the counseling office if you would like to attend this seminar. Deadline to sign up is Mon, March 12. There will be sign up slots per each block on that day.
- JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The STEP-UP High School Program provides hands-on summer research experience for High School students interested in exploring research careers in the biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences. The program provides exposure to the core NIDDK mission areas of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolic diseases; digestive diseases and nutrition; kidney, urologic and hematologic diseases. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15, 2012. See your counselor or Science teacher for more info.
