John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.
Our ESLRs: John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.
ATTENTION EVERYONE

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
- Chinese Cultural Club (CCC): Meeting every Friday at Lunch in A205.
- Calling all ARTISTS! The Creations Art Club will be having meetings every Thursday in D103. There will be a guest speaker coming in this month. More information will be announced soon!
- You like racks or enjoy a good game of pool? Come join the Billiards Club! Show your talent and skills or even try to become the very best. Meetings are on WEDNESDAYS in Rm B201.
- FUTURE EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION: Are you interested in becoming a teacher? Join the Future Educators Association NOW! Meetings are every Thursday in A202 during lunch. See you there!
- MARINE DEFENDERS: Meetings are Thursday at lunchtime.
- JAPANESE CLUB: Meetings every Wed in F202. Serious members who want to help fundraise and may partake in the Japan trip are invited to attend. Club participation will determine one’s eligibility to take part in the Japan trip.
- I-Recycle Club: Meetings every Wednesday at Lunch in Room D223.
- Filipino Club (UFSA): Meetings every Thursday at Lunch in Room D223.
- Tourism Hospitality Society will be holding its regular meetings every Friday during lunch in Room G104.
- Robotics Club will be holding its regular meetings every Thursday during lunch in Room D114.
- WAVE CLUB: Welcome All Visitors Enthusiastically! Meetings will be held every Wednesday in room A207.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:
- SPIRIT DAYS on Friday: Students who are members of Clubs/Organizations, JROTC or student athletes for the Quarter may wear their sponsored organization shirt on Fridays. Students are NOT allowed to wear just any JFK t-shirt. If so, you are violating the criteria for Spirit Day and will be disciplined accordingly.
- SENIORS: If you have not ordered your cap and gown, this is your last chance. Jostens will be taking orders on January 23, 24, and 25 inB213 during lunch.
- SENIORS: If you’re interested in participating in the Graduation Planning Committee, please see a class officer for more info.
- The John F. Kennedy High School Class of 2013 proudly presents their annual talent show competition, “GOT TALENT? 2.” See some of the finest youth talent battle it out in song, dance, and poetry at the GATE Theater on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Pre-sold tickets are $8.00 and tickets at the door will be $10.00. Prizes will be raffled that night. See any class of 2013 Office or member for tickets. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
- SAVE THE DATE! GET YOUR PASSPORTS READY! The Sweethearts’ Ball “Love in Las Vegas” is just around the corner! It will be held from 6 pm – 10 pm at the Marriott Hotel, Chamorro Ballroom on February 4. Class of 2014 is hosting the annual ball and will be selling tickets in room D113 during lunch. Prices are $26 for singles and $50 for couples.
- Would you like to take home the crown for King or Queen at this years’ Sweethearts’ Ball? If so, stop by room D113 during lunch and pick up an application to run for Royal Court! You’ll never know if you will become the King and Queen of Hearts for this years’ Sweethearts Ball Love in Las Vegas!
- Do you have a voice, dance moves, or any gift that you would like to perform at the Sweethearts’ Ball? If so, stop by room D113 during lunch to get an application to audition! Your performance is greatly needed!
- ALL STUDENTS must exit the JFK campus no later than 2:00 p.m. unless you have prior authorization. Students will be disciplined accordingly if they continue to violate this rule.
- LOCK OUT will commence this month. Students must be prompt to class.
- RANDOM SEARCH will begin ASAP. Students do not bring illegal/prohibited items to JFK; you will be disciplined.
- GUM CHEWING is NOT allowed on campus. If you violate this rule, you will be disciplined accordingly.
- If anyone finds a Coach Wristlet with the colors of beige, pink, and green containing a Princeton USB, photo ID and Military ID and OTHER PRICELESS items, please return to Maggie Baza or Ms. Mel Q. in the Main Office. A NICE reward will be provided to you!
- There will not be any NHS tutoring from January 17 – 20 due to exam week.
- JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The STEP-UP High School Program provides hands-on summer research experience for High School students interested in exploring research careers in the biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences. The program provides exposure to the core NIDDK mission areas of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolic diseases; digestive diseases and nutrition; kidney, urologic and hematologic diseases. If interested, the deadline to apply is Feb. 15, 2012. See your Science teacher, counselor, or Dr. Roberto- Assistant Principal- for more information.
- SENIORS: Class shirts are now being pre-sold for $12. Purchase your shirt and represent your class! Please see Secretary Artken Cada for more information or go to B213 during lunch.
FACULTY AND STAFF:
- ESKUELEN PUENGI. Last day to apply is today, January 17. You must be fully certified and teach in certified area. The program will begin on Feb 8 and end May 9.
- TEACHERS: DO NOT LEAVE ANY student(s) unsupervised in your classroom at anytime, especially during lunch. If you are leaving your room at lunch, all students must exit and proceed to the designated student areas.
- Emergency Response (ER) Training will take place soon. Training date and time will be forthcoming.
- We are pleased to announce the ESL Afterschool Program, I'Ayudon Mane'lu, pilot designed for academically challenged students in the ESL program. The objective of this federally-funded program is to increase academic English of ESL students, needed to comprehend content area subjects. The program will run for 1.5 hours/ 3x a week TWTH, for a total of 4.5 hours a week, beginning January 24 thru May 31, 2012. If you are an ESL-certified teacher and are interested in the program, you will need to complete an employment application at the Personnel Services Division. Additionally, a high school/college student will serve as natural supports and tutor students who are currently being served by the program. Please see Mrs. Rosete or Ms. Tomasiak for more information.
- CLUB/ORGANIZATION ADVISORS: 2nd Quarter ends January 20. YOU MUST verify and balance your ledger with the school ledger between now and January 30. This is stated in JFK’s NAF SOP. If you do not do this, fundraising events for your club/organization will be suspended until further notice. Also, if you did not submit the names of your club/organization officers, please do so immediately.
- Science Teachers, if you have students interested in research and getting exposure to working in a scientific setting, please refer them to the NIDDK program. The last day to register for this program is fast approaching.
FROM THE COUNSELORS:
- Night School applications available on Friday, Jan 13. Night School applications are due on Feb 3.
- SENIORS: January 1, 2012 was the first day to submit your FAFSA form online, please do so before March in order to get money for college. Remember, first come, first served!
- UOG APPLICATION INFO: Students can apply to UOG and pay online now: www.uog.edu. Students must apply before they can take the placement test in the Spring. Go to www.uog.edu
- KFC Scholarship. $20K. Financial need and entrepreneurial spirit. Will attend UOG. www.kfcscholars.org. Deadline 2/08.
