Vol. 2  Issue 4                                Thursday, August 19, 2010                           Gold Day: Periods 2, 4, and 6
  • John F. Kennedy High School’s mission is to develop our island students to become globally primed high achievers.
  • Our ESLR’s:  John F. Kennedy High School students will be responsible citizens, problem solvers, effective communicators, and technologically literate.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  
  • Breakfast and Lunch tickets will be sold in front of the gym before school and during the first half of lunch.

  • Meal applications – see your homeroom teacher for an application.  Submit your completed applications to the FOAS office in I-building as soon as possible.  Students currently on free/reduced list will remain so until Sept. 21, 2010.  These students must submit a new application to continue receiving these benefits.

  • Tryouts for the Girls’ Volleyball Team are being held at the Guam Sports Complex from 3:30 P.M. – 6:30 P.M. on Mondays – Fridays.  Students must present copy of updated physical, parental consent, and 4th quarter report card.  Bring gym clothes, knee pads, and water.
  • Want to get involved Islanders?  W.A.Y. will be giving out packets starting today during lunch in H103B to anyone interested in running for the following positions:  Freshmen class officers; and W.A.Y. vice president, treasurer, & P.R.O.   See any W.A,Y. officer if you have any questions.
  • If you are an expecting mother, or know of another student who is, you are highly encouraged to register as soon as possible for the pregnancy class.  See Nurse Ballares in her office, or see Mr. Hernandez in H103A.
  • Congratulations to Anelyn Lagrimas, the official JFK Pacific Daily News VIBE reporter.   News and other positive publicity can be referred to Anelyn.
  • Vivace Honor Choir is in need of female singers. If you feel confident in singing and performing, please see Mrs. Sablan in H101 as soon as possible.  Auditions will be held on Friday, Aug. 20th during lunch.  Please come prepared to sing the National Anthem and one song of choice.
  • Inafa’ Maolek  Club – meeting today in C205 during lunch.  Officers will be elected; interested students are invited to attend.
  • Future Educators of America (FEA) meets today and every Thursday in J207.  All students are welcomed to attend.
  • Girls’ Soccer Team – meeting today during lunch in the weight room.  See Coach Mel Q. or Coach Manansala for more information.

  • SCHEDULE CHANGES -  Add/Drop ends this Friday.  Students should not be sent to the Counseling Office during instructional time for schedule changes.  Students must complete a Request to See Counselor for Schedule Change form and submit it to the Counseling Office before school, during break, or after school.  The forms are with the teachers, in the main office, and in the Counseling Office.

  • Please take the time to review the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Quick Reference that was placed in your packet.
  • Homeroom teachers - the notice to parents placed in your teacher box regarding this Friday’s early student release are to be given to your homeroom students today.   Focus group room assignments (11:50 A.M. – 1:30 P.M.) are as follows:

  • Did you miss taichi last year?  You have another chance to start our free class for teachers.  We will meet Monday and Wednesday at 1:40 – 2:45 P.M. in J101.  Come to try it out!
  • HOMEROOM TEACHERS – please have your homeroom attendance folder ready for pick up by 7:25 A.M.
  • HOMEROOM TEACHERS – student meal applications are in your boxes.  Please distribute them to your students as soon as possible.  Instruct students to turn in completed applications to the FOAS office.  Return unused applications to the FOAS office as well.
  • When completing the “Student grade change form,” please see Ms. Camacho for approval.  Do not leave the forms with any of the office clerks.  /s/ Ms. Florence Camacho

  • At 6:45 A.M., the National Anthem is played daily.  If you are in your vehicle during this time and you are driving through the paved parking area in front of the flag pole, please stop your vehicle until the Anthem ends.
  • Teachers’ PTEP prep period meetings on September 9th & 10th in the I-building teachers’ lounge.  Mandatory attendance for first year teachers and/or new teachers to JFKHS.  Veteran teachers are invited to attend, if necessary.
  • The campus is locked and secured daily at 4 P.M. and on weekends.
